Summary

Xceed Group recently delivered an IT Transformation Programme for Lloyd's of London Insurance Broker, RFIB to enable them to deliver significant future growth plans.

RFIB is a Lloyd’s insurance broker with a global presence, which is poised for significant growth over the coming years through a combination of expansion within existing markets and acquisition.

RFIB had a requirement to improve the IT services and introduce more formal processes with KPIs to the IT systems. The existing environment was a mix of current and legacy technologies and there was a high level of dependency on Windows 2003.

The project had to be completed within a six month period and RFIB required specialist consultants to deliver the project within the required timeframe.

Thanks to Xceed Group, we are in a great position to migrate to a secure, scalable and flexible IaaS model that will support our business as it grows. Most importantly, the initiative has improved overall employee satisfaction with the IT function, aligning current team roles with our future business direction.

  • Transition to a more secure, modern, scalable and fully supported IT systems that can support RFIB's business operations now and into the future

Xceed Group was engaged by RFIB to assist with developing and delivering their digital and cloud strategy. Reporting into RFIB’s COO, I was responsible for running the IT Operations and IT Projects functions and supporting the Xceed team who were focused on the Cloud Vendor Selection Process.

During the Transformation programme for RFIB, I was involved in documenting the as-is state for a number of business critical applications and suggesting appropriate migration strategies for those applications.

This was of particular importance because the client had a limited understanding of a number of their most important services. And in order to successfully complete an application migration it is imperative that you fully understand the current application context. On completion of the programme, the client went on to successfully and safely migrate to a 3rd party hosting provider. Xceed’s involvement in this project was key - using our best practice we helped them to achieve their goal of moving to a more agile IT infrastructure.

Xceed added value to the overall programme by baselining their services and helping them select the best supplier.

As part of RFIB’s outsourcing of their IT Infrastructure, I was involved in the Brokasure Upgrade project to upgrade their core business application whilst migrating to a new datacentre. This was of particular importance as the application was suffering regular outages and was about to go out of support. Xceed’s involvement in this project was key as we helped them deliver a business critical change project during a period of significant disruption and change to their IT delivery function.
