GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), the new regulation will replace the current Data Protection Act (1998) in the UK and is being introduced in May 2018.

If you manage Personally Identifiable Information (PII) for EU citizens, this regulation will impact your business.

The Impact of GDPR:

  • Fines of up to 4% of group turnover or €20m (whichever is greater) for non-compliance
  • It applies to both data controllers and data processors
  • Individuals can view and transfer all data held and have the right to be forgotten

Understanding the basics of GDPR is the first step, the next is to develop a plan to ensure all Personally Identifiable Information (PII) your business stores or processes meets the standards of the new legislation.

There's a lot in the GDPR you'll recognise from the current law, but make no mistake, this one's a game changer for everyone
